Literacy Tip

If your child says that they hate to read, chances are they just haven't found the type of book that they like to read. Switch things up. If they have only read fiction give them some non-fiction. There really is a perfect book out there for everyone!

I love this time of the year. Really it's just my absolute favorite! I thought I would take a minute and share with you some of the fun adventures me and my family have been doing now that the weather is warming up.

Reading Inspiration

I read this amazing article the other day about how we are destroying our children's love for reading. I thought it was very well put and inspiring so I wanted to share it with you. I think that it's easy to get caught up in life and forget to just enjoy. It's easy to just make reading be another chore your child has to do but it doesn't need to be that way. Make it Monday

Not gonna lie, today is such a gorgeous day! So for today's Make it Monday I went you to take your kids outside and do this fun activity. Have you heard of our paper airplane books?

This book is so fun for kids and adults. In this book there are 100 different colored papers with instructions on how to fold 5 different types of planes. My husband loves this book because it helps him to release his inner child.

So here is what I want you to do. Make some paper airplanes with your kids. Then go outside and set up some sort of obstacle course for the planes. Have fun in the sun playing with your kids! This is a great family night activity ;)

Book of the Week

This week I want to show you Spencer's FAVORITE book. He brings this book to me at least 4 times a day wanting me to read it to him. Since he loves it so much I thought your kiddos might like it too.

This book is full of fun animals, people, and objects. Spencer in particular loves to find all of the elephants and puppies in this book. Seriously, if you have a toddler you need this book. It keeps Spencer entertained for a bit so I can get some cleaning or cooking done.

What's new?

So I have not been very good keeping this blog up to date lately. Sorry for those of you who check to see what I have posted. Life has gotten crazy lately. There have been several changes happening around our house and I finally feel like I am back in control and ready to tackle the world again. Do you ever feel like a chicken running around without it's head sometimes? I am not one to handle changes very well. It always takes me a bit to adjust.

The craziness all started a few months ago when we found out that we were expecting baby number 2! We are so excited! However this pregnancy has wiped me out. I had horrible morning sickness and just felt miserable most of the time. In the middle of that, Garrett got a new job and a new work schedule. He now works more normal hours but he is home less often then he used to be. It sure was an adjustment not having him here during the day.

Then just last week as I was starting to feel normal again, I got horribly sick. I was out for a week. :( But we just got super exciting news!

Spencer is getting a baby sister! I am so excited to have a girl. So now that things have calmed down again I hope to be more diligent with keeping you all updated and informed with the wonderful world of Usborne!
